Common questions

Do I need the landlord's PAN?

Yes, if your rent is more than ₹1,00,000 a year. Your employer will ask for it when you claim HRA. If the landlord has no PAN, a signed declaration is usually needed instead.

Is a revenue stamp needed?

Only for cash payments above ₹5,000. For UPI, bank transfer or cheque, no stamp is needed.

Does the landlord have to sign?

Yes. Print the receipts and get the landlord's signature on each one. Many employers also accept a photo of the signed receipt.
